Ceilia Brown Classical Yang Style Tai Chi

Originally from Llanbedr, Meirioneth, I came to Tai Chi rather by accident whilst living in Shropshire when a friend with cancer was told she ought to do Tai Chi.

She found a teacher, Barbara Richter, who was willing to come over providing she could get a small group together,so she asked me if I would be interested,.I immediately took to the art and have never looked back.

I have now been studying Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong for thirty years, the last 20 of these with China Bridge Centre, initially with instructor Steve Morris, then with Sifu Peter Newton, founder of C.B.C and Regional Officer in North Wales for the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain (T.C.U.G.B) and now a member of the editorial board for their magazine, Tai Chi and Internal Arts.

The T.C.U.G.B. was set up by Chinese and British Tai Chi teachers to ensure all registered instructors. are of the highest standard, having been trained in a recognised system.

I am a senior instructor with C.B.C., teaching Classical Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan, renowned for its therapeutic effects; an authorised instructor of Dr. Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for back Pain Programmes and a registered instructor with the T.C.U.G.B.

Qigong, designed to generate energy and benefit health on all levels, is an integral part of all classes, Tai Chi being a form of qigong as well as a martial art. I also teach Chinese broadsword, narrow blade and staff forms.

Since 2003, I have run classes funded by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action, for DR. Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Arthritis Programme. Some of the 'veterans' in these groups are now even doing the sword form!
